The long coastal strip of Southeast Alaska, known as the Inside Passage,
is made up of a myriad of islands, miles of coastline, unexplored rivers,
inlets, and coves all backed by a wilderness of mountains, glaciers
and waterways. Visitors enjoy the blue-green waterways and forested islands
that boast magnificent scenery, picturesque communities and abundant wildlife.
Visit the capital city of Juneau. Juneau offers
glacier viewing from Mendenhall Glacier, Tracy Arm Fjord, the Juneau Icefield
and Glacier Bay National Park. The city of Ketchikan
is known as the "Salmon Capital of the World." The Misty Fjords
National Monument is one of the area's major attractions.
